Rey Fenix took to social media Tuesday to send a message of support to the Mexico national soccer team, just hours before its match against Ecuador in the Round of 32 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The match will take place at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, with a spot in the Round of 16 on the line. Mexico enters the game with momentum after winning all three of its matches in Group A, scoring six goals and conceding none, while Ecuador advanced after a 2-1 comeback win over Germany.
Fenix, one of the top Mexican representatives on WWE’s current roster, turned the moment into a statement of national pride.
“Mexicans don’t just celebrate one victory; we celebrate being alive. We Mexicans grew up amidst shortages and hardships, and yet we chose to FIGHT, to work until we achieve it.”
We are a people accustomed to achieving the impossible; our ancestors built an entire city on a lake, something impossible for those times. We are the people whom life has hit very hard, and yet we get back up with a smile—being Mexican is a SUPER POWER. I am very proud to be Mexican, proud of my culture, my people, my roots.”
“Today, nothing is impossible for Mexico; today, the entire world is dressed in green, white, and red. Mexico, and yes, right?”
“Today, Mexico wins”
“ANIMO Mexico”
Beyond his WWE run, Fenix is also in an important stretch in Mexico. In May, at AAA Noche de Los Grandes, he defeated Laredo Kid to win the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship. Last Friday, he also defended the title against Nathan Frazer on SmackDown.
