Rey Mysterio, who has talked about a possible retirement from WWE a number of times, said he has no plans to set an age for calling it a career.
Speaking with BANG Showbiz, the WWE Hall of Famer discussed his new mindset.
“I think I’m loving the process right now of enjoying the moments, you know, as they come. Before it was maybe a little bit more stressful because you were working constantly, you know, four or five days a week, but now it’s been like, okay, with the GM role and Triple A and then wrestling on RAW, I kind of vibe that program. I don’t mind it at all. I enjoy it.”
“Because I’m still on both sides of the spectrum and I’m learning as I’m growing still, you know. So, it’s really fun. I think I’m just going to wing it and see where this road takes me, you know, because I’m really enjoying the moments right now that I’m living inside the ring, whether as a wrestler or as a GM.”
His physical condition also doesn’t seem to be an issue right now. Mysterio said he is injury-free and recalled the groin problem that delayed his match against Chad Gable.
“Really good. Really, really good. Yes, yes. No injuries, knock on wood. You know, the last one I had was my groin, which was two years ago prior to wrestling Chad Gable at WrestleMania, and finally that match came true, you know, about a month ago, which was really cool.”
“I kind of had that on my back, carrying it for that long, you know, until it happened. Once it happened, I’m like, ‘Oh, that feels good.’ And I’m glad that we felt we had a great match.”
In August, Mysterio had already said that his body wasn’t telling him it was time to stop, while also noting that he was enjoying his role as AAA General Manager.
Mysterio himself has pointed to Dominik Mysterio as his ideal opponent for his last match. Dominik, for his part, recently said he considers it his “birthright” to retire his father.
Mysterio’s current WWE deal is set to expire at the end of 2026.
