Ricky Saints has revealed the goals he wants to accomplish since his move to WWE SmackDown. In a recent interview on LaJunta+, the former NXT Champion said wrestling at Caesars Superdome in his hometown of New Orleans currently ranks higher than winning championships.
“I think that the next thing I want that is on my bucket list, I’d really love to wrestle in the Superdome in New Orleans, my hometown. That’s the one in front of me.
Beyond that I’d love to go and actually win the United States Championship, then go on and become WWE Champion, those are the main goals as well.
For right now, to give you something that’s right in front of me, I really want to wrestle in the Superdome, and it will happen.”
Saints has already gotten his first crack at the U.S. Title on the main roster, challenging Trick Williams at Night of Champions on June 27, but came up short. The title has since changed hands at SummerSlam, with Baron Corbin ending Williams’ reign.
WWE already has a return to New Orleans on the books, though it won’t be at the Superdome. Money in the Bank is set for October 10 at Smoothie King Center, and Saints has said he hopes to work the men’s Ladder Match and walk out with the briefcase, which would give him a direct path to his goal of becoming WWE Champion.
Saints’ goal ties directly into the city’s wrestling history. The Superdome hosted WrestleManias 30 and 34, along with major Mid-South Wrestling events during the 1970s and 1980s. The building was also originally tabbed to host WrestleMania 42 before the event was shifted to Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
Saints made his SmackDown debut on May 1 against Cody Rhodes.
