WWE May Have Revealed Rey Fenix’s Next Challenger for the AAA World Cruiserweight Title

In a WWE SmackDown exclusive posted after the August 7 episode in Philadelphia, Ricky Saints confronted Rey Fenix and made it clear he’s coming for the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship.

No match between the two has been announced as of this writing, and Saints has not been officially named the No. 1 contender.

Fenix captured the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship on May 30 at Noche de Los Grandes, defeating Laredo Kid. He has since defended the title on both AAA programming and SmackDown, turning back Axiom, Nathan Frazer, El Hijo del Vikingo, JD McDonagh, and Mini Vikingo. His most recent successful defense came on August 1 against Mini Vikingo at AAA Verano de Escándalo.

Saints, a former NXT Champion, had been focused on the United States Championship after his call-up to SmackDown in May. He feuded with Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams, challenging Trick for the title at Night of Champions on June 27 but coming up short.

Saints’ most recent match came on August 6 at a WWE live event in Fairfax, Virginia, where he teamed with Gunther in a loss to CM Punk and Cody Rhodes. He also defeated Axiom on the August 6 episode of WWE Main Event.
