Santos Escobar is just hours away from officially cutting ties with WWE, and he made sure to send a message to Triple H and Nick Khan before starting the next chapter of his career.
In a social media post, Escobar thanked the company for the experiences he had there, but made clear that he intends to prove his worth away from WWE.
“2 days: WWE. I gave everything and that’s what was taken, no regrets. Grateful for the people, the places and circumstances I was put in. I’ll keep growing my legend and my indentation in the industry. Watch me Paul and Nick.”
Escobar was released on April 24, part of the wave of cuts WWE made following WrestleMania 42. His 90-day non-compete clause expires at midnight Thursday, July 23, at which point he’ll be free to negotiate and sign with any promotion.

The departure came just six months after an unusual situation. In October 2025, Escobar’s contract expired and his profile was moved to WWE’s Alumni section. Shortly after, though, he signed a new deal after WWE improved the offer and discussed his creative concerns.
Even so, Escobar never returned to WWE’s main roster programming. His final stint came in AAA, where he competed in the Rey de Reyes tournament final on March 14 and suffered a triceps injury. He later required a second surgery due to an issue with his ulnar nerve, and there’s still no confirmed date for his return to the ring.
Now going by the name Hijo Del Fantasma again, he’ll make his first public appearances since leaving WWE at San Diego Comic-Con this Friday and Saturday, July 24 and 25.
