Sol Ruca is enjoying the best stretch of her WWE career. The current Women’s Intercontinental Champion has already captured the NXT Women’s North American Championship and the Women’s Speed Championship.

However, during a recent interview with the Italian Wrestling Channel, Ruca revealed that she had two different paths in mind before getting into pro wrestling.

“I wanted to be a stunt double, so that was something that I was working on. I also wanted to be a chiropractor; that’s what I went to school for. But, I mean, I feel like most things kind of work with wrestling, so, I mean, yeah.”

That explanation lines up with Ruca’s background. Before WWE, Ruca, whose real name is Calyx Hampton, was part of the acrobatics and tumbling team at the University of Oregon. In 2020, she was named NCATA Athlete of the Week after the Ducks picked up a win over Arizona Christian University.

WWE itself describes Ruca as a wrestler with a background in acrobatics and gymnastics, along with a strong connection to surfing.

In the same interview, Ruca also named IYO SKY as an inspiration from when she first started watching wrestling more regularly.

Ruca won the Women’s Intercontinental Championship by defeating Becky Lynch at Clash in Italy.
