Tony Khan, AEW‘s president and owner, has confirmed that Austin Creed and Kofi will play important roles on the company’s digital side, in addition to the prominent spot they have been given on its programming.
During the post-show media scrum for AEW All Out, held Saturday in Chicago, Khan was asked whether Creed and Kofi could build something similar to UpUpDownDown in AEW. He said he did not know who owns the channel, but he made it clear that the New Level will have a significant digital presence.
“I definitely want them to have a big digital presence for us. They are gonna be a big part of the AEW digital team. As far as that YouTube channel, I can’t speak for that because I don’t know the ownership of that YouTube channel.”
The ownership question, however, had already been answered. On September 2, Tyler Breeze said WWE owns UpUpDownDown.
WWE officially launched UpUpDownDown in June 2015, with Creed, then known as Xavier Woods, as its main host. The channel became one of the company’s top digital content initiatives, particularly in gaming.
Creed and Kofi, meanwhile, continue to be featured prominently in the ring. The duo made their AEW debut at All In: London on August 30 and won the AEW World Trios Championship alongside Swerve Strickland. At All Out on Saturday, the trio retained the titles with a win over “Hangman” Adam Page, Bandido and Brody King.
