Cedric Alexander is officially in the match for the vacant X-Division Championship at TNA Bound for Glory, set for October 11 at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida.
Unlike the other participants, Alexander didn’t need to win a qualifying match. TNA confirmed that the former champion exercised his rematch clause and automatically earned one of the six spots in the Scramble Match.
TNA announced on Monday:
“Via his rematch clause, @CedricAlexander has automatically qualified for the match for the vacant X-Division Title at #TNABoundForGlory on October 11 LIVE on PPV and TNA+ from the Yuengling Center in Tampa!”
Alexander won the X-Division Championship on May 14, defeating Leon Slater in a 2-out-of-3 Falls Match in the main event of TNA iMPACT!. Slater won the title back at Lockdown on August 23.
Shortly after recapturing the title, however, Slater exercised the traditional Option C and gave up the X-Division Championship to challenge Nic Nemeth for the TNA World Championship at Bound for Glory. TNA then announced a Six-Way Scramble Match to crown a new champion.
Three names are confirmed so far. KC Navarro earned his spot by defeating Joe Alonzo, while Fabian Aichner beat Rohit Raju. Alexander is the only qualifier who didn’t have to go through the qualifying rounds.
Three spots in the match are still open.
