Tony Khan has commented for the first time on WWE’s decision to hold a AAA and NXT doubleheader on the same day as AEW All In: London.

During the Forbidden Door media scrum, held last Sunday at SAP Center in San Jose, California, Khan was asked by Dave Meltzer about the announcement made during NXT Great American Bash.

“It’s good. It’s double the compliment Jimmy Crockett got. That’s good, twice as nice as they were to Jimmy. That’s great. I’ll be sure to take it that way. I think we’re going to have a great AEW All In and really looking forward to going back to Wembley Stadium. It’s going to be the biggest night in AEW wrestling.

I can’t speak to what the other promotions are doing but I did see that announcement. I saw that with our own show going on tonight, so not a lot I can do other than just hope we have a really good show and plan and prepare that we will have a very good show for AEW All In.”

The Jim Crockett reference points back to the historic 1987 battle, when the WWF created Survivor Series to run directly against Starrcade, the top event for Jim Crockett Promotions.

The most notable detail is that the AAA event will begin at 11 a.m. local time, while NXT Heatwave will air at 3 p.m. ET on The CW in the United States and internationally on Netflix.

On the same day, AEW will return to Wembley Stadium in London for another edition of All In. The event will take place on August 30 and will again be treated as one of the biggest nights on the company’s calendar.
