Add as a preferred source on Google Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi are about to settle one of WWE‘s most physical rivalries of 2026. Behind the scenes, though, their relationship is very different.
During an appearance on Busted Open Radio, Triple H revealed that Lesnar saw something special in Femi and has started working with him directly. According to WWE’s chief content officer, the two spend hours in Lesnar’s dressing room before shows, talking about the parts of wrestling that go beyond the in-ring work.
“There is another level past the in-ring that can be just as meaningful, if not more so, for guys moving forward, and that’s where guys will learn.
We’re fortunate now to have a generation of Cody and Punk and Roman and Seth, and all of these guys. Brock.
He’d probably suplex me for saying this, but Brock is hands on with Oba Femi. He’s seen something special there and he’s like, ‘Okay kid, come with me, and I’m gonna teach you. Here’s all the things you’ve gotta learn.’ He brings him in his room in the afternoon, they sit for hours and talk about this stuff.
It’s that level of stuff that brings this next generation up and I think will take it to the next level, and I’m excited to see it.
For every star that we have now sitting at the top, there’s a guy underneath him. An Oba, a Trick, a Carmelo, Je’Von, all these people that are sitting underneath them just soaking up this knowledge, and I think that’s gonna make the next generation thrive.”
Femi’s rise has come quickly. The Nigerian signed with WWE through its NIL program after competing in the shot put in college and made his in-ring debut in November 2022.
In less than four years, Femi became a two-time NXT Champion, won King of the Ring and found himself in a trilogy with Lesnar. Femi won their first match at WrestleMania 42 in 4 minutes, 46 seconds before Lesnar evened the series at Clash in Italy.
The rubber match is set for SummerSlam on August 1 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis and will take place inside Hell in a Cell. Lesnar has a 2-2 record in Hell in a Cell matches, while Femi will make his debut inside the structure. The passing of the torch between them extends beyond the storyline.
