Add as a preferred source on Google The Miz says Brock Lesnar raised expectations for Oba Femi with his post-match endorsement at WWE SummerSlam.
Femi defeated Lesnar in a Hell in a Cell match to close the first night of SummerSlam in Minneapolis. The win made Femi the first wrestler to beat Lesnar inside the Cell and gave him a 2-1 edge in their series.
After the Cell was raised, Lesnar came back out, joined Femi in the ring, hugged him and raised his arm. Lesnar then called Femi “the future” while referring to himself as “the past.”
Speaking to Battleground Podcast, Miz explained why he considered Lesnar’s actions such a major endorsement and why Femi now has so much to prove.
“Watching Brock Lesnar with Oba Femi was unreal. Great match. I think everyone (loved what Lesnar did after the match). When you’re looking at that, you’re going, ‘He’s putting him over. He’s putting him over huge.’
This is Brock Lesnar, this is a person that doesn’t go by whatever creative tells him to do. Brock does what Brock wants to do, and Brock did that.
That is a huge amount of pressure put on Oba Femi, because now you are the next big thing. You’ve been anointed the next big thing by the Next Big Thing.”
Femi defeated Lesnar in their first match at WrestleMania 42 before Lesnar won the rematch at Clash in Italy. Their SummerSlam meeting settled the series and marked Lesnar’s first defeat in three Hell in a Cell appearances after two victories over The Undertaker.
