The comments came on the “An Exclusive with Triple H” episode of Busted Open Radio, hosted by Dave LaGreca and Nic Nemeth. He compared WWE fans to fans of the NFL, NBA, and Major League Baseball.
“Yeah, look, whether we’re doing something right or we’re doing something wrong, I love that passion. I love it. It’s amazing. They’re not always going to agree with everything that happens.”
“It’s no different than the NFL, where guys who have never played a down of football in their life, or haven’t played since peewee or whatever, are screaming and ranting, ‘This coach sucks. He knows nothing about football. He doesn’t understand the game. Why would he run that play?’”
“Just like the NFL or NBA or Major League Baseball, people sit on the couch and yell, ‘I’m done. I’m never watching the Knicks again. They suck.’ Then they win, and now they’re the greatest thing ever.”

Triple H also said he wishes fans would react to the wrestlers, not the writers, when a storyline does not go the way they wanted.
“I wish sometimes we could put that passion into the talent as opposed to…when somebody gets heat in our business, it’s ‘why would they write it that way?’ As opposed to ‘that no good piece of crap did this.’ There is something to the innocence of not knowing and it still being real to me, damnit, but it is what it is. I love the hate, the love, it’s all passion for what we do. That passion is everything in what we do.”
