Excalibur tried to add an unexpected name to AEW Double or Nothing this Sunday, publicly inviting New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani to the show.

On his Bluesky account, the AEW announcer tagged Mamdani and simply wrote, “Are you free on Sunday?” The invitation came just days before the pay-per-view, which will take place at Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens.

Mamdani is not exactly removed from pro wrestling. The current New York City mayor, who was sworn in at the start of January, was previously spotted at AEW Grand Slam 2021, also in Queens.

At the time, he watched Kenny Omega vs. Bryan Danielson up close and was also caught enjoying CM Punk’s entrance to “Cult of Personality.”

Double or Nothing takes place this Sunday, May 24, airing in the United States on pay-per-view and HBO Max PPV. The event will be held at Louis Armstrong Stadium, marking another major play by AEW in New York.

As of now, Mamdani has not publicly responded to Excalibur’s invitation. Even so, the mayor’s possible appearance adds another interesting wrinkle to AEW’s weekend in Queens.
