Sheamus is officially free to choose his next move in pro wrestling after nearly two decades with WWE.
Although news of his departure broke in July, he did not become a free agent until early this month.
Fightful Select now reports that some of AEW’s big-name veterans have been pushing internally for the company to make Sheamus an offer. Even so, the outlet has heard that there have been no substantial talks so far and that no contract has been signed.
Sheamus has also drawn interest from TNA and other promotions, sources say. There is no indication at this point, however, that a deal with either AEW or TNA is close.
AEW’s interest in Sheamus is not new. In July, WrestleVotes Radio reported that a source close to Sheamus believed he would be open to working for Tony Khan’s promotion, even on a short-term basis. Around the same time, a high-level WWE official argued for keeping him during a conversation with TKO.
Sheamus has not wrestled since November 17, 2025, when he teamed with John Cena and Rey Mysterio to defeat Finn Bálor, JD McDonagh and Dominik Mysterio on Raw.
