Vince Russo has responded to reports about a potential return to WWE’s creative team.
The story gained traction after it was reported that he had conversations with Nick Khan over the summer.
On The Coach and Bro Show, Russo criticized Conrad Thompson, James Romero, and Sean Ross Sapp for reporting on his future without contacting him. He said all three have his phone number, and he won’t accept any attempt by them to reach him now that they have run the story.
“So I have made a reputation of not lying and telling the truth,” Russo said. “Since 8 o’clock last night, I am reading all kinds of rumors about me from everybody.” Russo listed Thompson, Romero, and Sapp first, followed by “a million different comments and stories.” He stressed that none of those people contacted him or tried to. “And all of those people have my number,” he said. “Let me tell you, don’t try to contact me now because I stated it already, and now it’s too late.”
Russo also compared the WWE reports to the rumors that circulated about his run with Juggalo Championship Wrestling. He said he prefers to talk about his business only when he feels the time is right.
Russo told his audience he wanted to be clear about one thing. “I do not lie,” he said. “With everything you’re reading, just like the stuff you were reading about JCW, guys, when I have something to say, I will say it! If there is nothing to say, I’m not gonna say anything. Everyone went on about JCW, then I said, ‘Guys, I wasn’t ready to say anything and talk about it,’ and now I am, and I did, and made everything clear.”
As for the reported talks with WWE, Russo would not confirm or deny any contact with Khan. He would only say he could have more to share in the future if there is something he wants his audience to know.
“So what I’m saying is, right now, there is nothing for me to talk about,” Russo said. “I have nothing to talk about right now. If that changes and there is something I need to talk about, this audience will be the first to know. It’s that simple, and I wanted to make this clear.”
Russo singled out someone with a journalism degree who worked for TV stations, along with someone who wrote three books, for running with stories without contacting the subject. “I’m sorry, you’re a hack, and you’re not properly doing your job,” he said.
But the rumors about Russo returning to WWE received another update on Wednesday.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider reported that Russo was the one who reached out to Khan to discuss a potential role with the company. WWE sources also told Johnson there was no movement toward hiring Russo.
