Will Ospreay is set to defend the AEW World Championship in a Clockwork Carnage match at WrestleDream, AEW announced on Saturday’s Collision.
The match will feature eight wrestlers and play out over two stages. Two of them will start, with another entering every three minutes, and anyone who is pinned or forced to submit before all eight are in will be eliminated. Once the field is complete, the remaining wrestlers will have 15 minutes to score falls, with each pinfall or submission worth one point. The wrestler with the most points when time runs out will win.
Clockwork Carnage is Ospreay’s own creation, originally designed for Pro Wrestling EVE. The EVE version brought in a new entrant every two minutes, but AEW has extended the interval to three minutes.
Kay Lee Ray won the first Clockwork Carnage match, beating Alexxis Falcon, Emersyn Jayne, Molly Spartan and Lucy Deathmatch in the final stage. With the win, Ray picked Kris Statlander as her opponent for an EVE Championship match on November 8.
Before WrestleDream, Ospreay has another title defense on his schedule, with Kazuchika Okada set to challenge him for the AEW World Championship at Grand Slam France on October 6 in Paris.
WrestleDream is scheduled for October 17 at Addition Financial Arena in Orlando, Florida.
