Will Ospreay is set to defend the AEW World Championship against Kazuchika Okada at Grand Slam France, which will be held October 6 at Adidas Arena in Paris, France.
The match was confirmed shortly after last night’s All Out in Chicago. In the main event, Ospreay beat Jon Moxley to successfully defend the title for the first time since winning it. On the same card, Okada defeated Tommaso Ciampa to retain the AEW International Championship.
During the media scrum that followed the pay-per-view, Ospreay called out Okada, describing him as an old mentor, and issued the challenge directly.
“I want you to challenge me for my world championship on October 6th in Paris.”
Okada wasted no time accepting.
“Of course. Bonjour, bitches.”
Tony Khan approved the match, and AEW later made it official. Only the World Championship will be on the line.
The match will be Ospreay and Okada’s first singles meeting since Worlds End 2024. Okada won that encounter, beating Ospreay in the Continental Classic final to retain the AEW Continental Championship he held at the time.
Ospreay won the AEW World Championship on August 30 at All In: London, defeating Kenny Omega at Wembley Stadium. Okada’s current International Championship reign began at the same event, where he defeated Kyle Fletcher and Konosuke Takeshita.
Grand Slam: France will be the first AEW event held in France.
