WWE Announces CM Punk’s Return for Next Week

CM Punk is set to return to SmackDown on Friday, October 9, after missing this week’s episode.

WWE made the announcement on last night’s show. The company has yet to reveal a match or segment for Punk’s appearance.

The October 9 show is set for the Cajundome in Lafayette, Louisiana, and will be the final SmackDown before Money in the Bank.

Punk’s last SmackDown appearance came on September 25, when he defeated Gunther and Finn Bálor in a Triple Threat match to qualify for the Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match.

Punk joins Bron Breakker, Je’Von Evans, Trick Williams, Penta and Kevin Owens in the ladder match. Owens earned the final spot last night by beating Cody Rhodes and Johnny Gargano after interference from Randy Orton.

Along with Punk’s return, WWE has announced a WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship match for the October 9 episode. Fatal Influence’s Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid will defend the titles against Charlotte Flair and Tatum Paxley.

Money in the Bank is set for the following day, October 10, at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.
