WWE has already announced Sami Zayn’s first appearance as Undisputed WWE Champion.
During Sunday’s NXT Great American Bash broadcast, Vic Joseph and Wade Barrett discussed Zayn’s major win at Night of Champions, where he defeated Cody Rhodes and Gunther to capture the company’s top title.
Barrett, who is also part of the Friday Night SmackDown commentary team alongside Joe Tessitore, indicated that Zayn will be on the July 3 episode. The commentator said he cannot wait to hear what the new champion has to say.
The appearance will mark Zayn’s first SmackDown since winning the title. At Night of Champions in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, he won the Triple Threat Match by defeating Rhodes and Gunther.
The July 3 episode of SmackDown will be taped this Monday, June 29, immediately after Raw at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
The show will also mark SmackDown’s return to a two-hour format, something that had been expected for some time.
