WWE Announces Lineup for September 4 SmackDown

WWE has announced the lineup for the September 4 episode of SmackDown, taped on August 28 at Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. The broadcast is headlined by Blake Monroe’s in-ring main roster debut and the fallout from Sami Zayn’s interference last week.

Monroe is set to face Giulia in singles competition. The bout was originally booked for the August 21 episode of SmackDown, but “The Glamour” ambushed her before the opening bell, preventing the contest from getting underway. Giulia retaliated the following week with a backstage assault.

Zayn is slated to address his destruction of last week’s Triple Threat Match between Kevin Owens, Finn Bálor, and Gunther, which was set to determine CM Punk’s next challenger before ending without a winner.

Cody Rhodes will address the crowd ahead of his match against Randy Orton at Sunday Night’s Main Event this weekend. SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis previously barred both men from making physical contact before the bout. Future Undisputed WWE Championship opportunities remain on the line.

In tag team action, Shinsuke Nakamura and Kyoki will team up on SmackDown for the first time against The Miz and Kit Wilson.
