WWE may not be done with its latest wave of releases.
WWE released Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, JC Mateo and Tonga Loa last Saturday. It was another post-WrestleMania 42 cut. Kingston had been with WWE since 2006. Woods joined in 2010. Mateo and Loa both worked as part of MFT. Solo Sikoa leads the faction.
On Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez said the backstage mood remains unsettled. He noted he was told Tama Tonga had also been cut. The report did not check out the following day.
“As viewers of the SmackDown TV show, I’d be very worried about Talla Tonga, Axiom, Nathan Frazer, and Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo. We’ll see what’s going on, but I would not be surprised if there were more names to come.”
Alvarez also flagged Talla Tonga, Axiom, Nathan Frazer, Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo as names in a delicate spot. The concern tracks. All five work SmackDown. The brand was directly hit by the recent cuts.
On Friday’s episode, Axiom and Frazer challenged Damian Priest and R-Truth for the WWE Tag Team Championship. Talla Tonga stayed in the spotlight alongside Solo Sikoa. He remains part of the story against Jacob Fatu and The Usos.
Fightful also reported several talents tried to add no-cut clauses to their deals. WWE turned those requests down.
WWE has not commented publicly on further releases. The backstage feeling suggests the roster reshuffle might not be over yet.
