WWE has yet to set a date for the John Cena Classic.
According to a new report from WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, the company is weighing its options for December.
A source who spoke to WrestleVotes Radio couldn’t say whether the tournament is more likely to take place on December 12 or on the following Saturday, December 19. A December 12 date would mean running the tournament as a stateside show on the same night as Wrestlepalooza: Perth.
The December 19 option would put the John Cena Classic on the same night as Worlds End at Target Center in Minneapolis and Guerra de Titanes at Arena Guadalajara in Mexico.
A WWE source also said the tournament is unlikely to take place on December 5. The company reportedly wants to avoid holding major events on three consecutive weekends. Survivor Series: WarGames is already set for November 28 in Houston.
According to the report, the fan vote is also still being discussed behind the scenes. John Cena wants to keep it in the tournament, and WWE has reportedly explored different ideas for how to implement it.
The vote is meant to let fans choose the John Cena Classic Champion regardless of match results.
