WWE Crown Jewel 2026 is facing new complications after Saudi authorities extended the closure of King Khalid International Airport, which was hit by missile attacks over the weekend. The event is set for November 7 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
According to Ringside News, Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation announced Monday that the airport will remain closed until Saturday, October 17, so that safety inspections and the procedures required to resume operations can be completed.
The decision follows a series of attacks attributed to Yemen’s Houthi rebels. At least 12 people were killed and more than 300 were injured on Saturday. On Sunday, another attack struck Terminal 4, killing one more person and injuring 11.
The trouble, however, extends beyond the temporary airport closure. Reuters reports that Air France-KLM has suspended its operations in Riyadh until October 31 and that Philippine Airlines has extended its flight cancellations until November 29, a period that covers Crown Jewel.
Delta Air Lines has also changed its plans, pushing back the launch of its nonstop route between Atlanta and Riyadh from October 23 to March 2027. Separately, the Federal Aviation Administration has advised U.S. airlines to take additional precautions on flights to Saudi Arabia.
Dave Meltzer addressed the situation on Wrestling Observer Radio as well. He said moving Crown Jewel to another location has become the most likely scenario, though he acknowledged that finding a replacement venue on less than a month’s notice would be difficult.
Crown Jewel remains scheduled for November 7 at Riyadh Season Stadium. With flights suspended and the attacks continuing, the resumption of air operations and the security situation over the coming weeks will decide whether the event can be held in Riyadh.
