Kairi Sane might not be done with WWE after all. At least not when it comes to the ongoing story with Asuka and IYO SKY.
According to Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer, people backstage believe Sane has more than a 50% chance of showing up at Backlash this Saturday in Tampa. The idea would be to give the angle some closure. It remains unclear whether this would be a full-time return or just a one-off appearance.
The talk stands out because Sane was part of WWE’s recent post-WrestleMania 42 cuts. She was released alongside Aleister Black, Zelina Vega, the Motor City Machine Guns and The Wyatt Sicks.
There is reportedly a belief within WWE that there is a 'better than 50% chance' that Kairi Sane will appear at this weekend's Backlash event:

Last week, reports suggested the opposite. WWE reportedly had no plans to bring her back to wrap the story. Sane had already returned to Japan. This new update signals a possible shift in plans, not a confirmation.
Backlash will feature Asuka vs. IYO SKY in a historic first. It marks the first time the two Japanese stars will meet on a premium live event.
The show takes place Saturday, May 9, at the Benchmark International Arena in Tampa, Florida. Roman Reigns vs. Jacob Fatu for the World Heavyweight Championship is also on the card.
