WWE is not expected to follow UFC’s lead by holding a show at the White House, at least not at this point.
According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, the idea is not in WWE’s current plans, though it is not being viewed as impossible if the numbers make sense for TKO.
“A WWE White House show isn’t in the cards, although it’s something WWE would be open to if the financials made sense.”
The topic came up after UFC held Freedom 250 on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington, D.C., this past Sunday. TKO is the parent company of both WWE and UFC, making speculation about a pro-wrestling version of the same concept natural.
However, the financial side appears to be the biggest obstacle. Dana White said after the event that UFC will not repeat the White House experience, suggesting the cost and logistics made another edition unfeasible.
WWE, for its part, has a much longer history with Donald Trump. The current U.S. president hosted WrestleMania IV and WrestleMania V at Trump Plaza, took part in the “Battle of the Billionaires” at WrestleMania 23, and was inducted into the company’s Hall of Fame in 2013.
In other words, despite the long-running relationship between the two sides, a WWE event at the White House does not appear to be close to happening.
