TNA may turn to a familiar WWE name to help get through one of its most unsettled stretches in recent months.
Following Tommy Dreamer’s departure from the company, where he had worked in creative and talent relations, Road Dogg has been discussed internally as a possible addition to TNA’s creative team. According to Fightful Select, Brian James’ name was mentioned backstage in TNA as a potential replacement, while Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that the company had already been in contact with him for several weeks.
According to PWInsider, Hunter Johnston, better known as Delirious, will remain with the company and is expected to lead creative for the time being. However, there is still a possibility that other names could be added following Dreamer’s exit.
In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, one person in WWE voiced support for the idea of Road Dogg working in TNA, describing him as someone who could help the product quite a bit.
“Very fundamentals style booker, which would do that product a lot of good. He’s enthusiastic when he deals with talent, which is also a positive.”

Road Dogg left WWE in March after another internal shakeup on the creative team. Brian James had been working as one of the key names on SmackDown, in addition to holding several backstage roles in the company over the past few years.
The potential move comes amid a major restructuring in TNA. The company confirmed a “workforce reduction” and announced the departures of Dreamer and Tessa Blanchard, along with other cuts that were not detailed in the official statement.
Even so, TNA is still trying to strengthen its structure. Beyond the creative changes, the company is also nearing a deal with OVW to turn the promotion into a developmental-style territory.
