Charlie Dempsey voiced his frustration with how he and BirthRight have been treated in WWE NXT.
During a promo on Tuesday’s episode, Dempsey said he is tired of being seen as a joke and called out the company for prioritizing athletes from football backgrounds over wrestlers dedicated to pro wrestling.
Dempsey said BirthRight was supposed to represent a fresh start for its members, but complained the stable doesn’t get the respect it deserves.
“I’m sick and tired of being treated like a joke all the time. Fed up with it. I’m not just gonna sit here and wait for NXT to take me seriously. I’m gonna force it.
Why should I keep giving back to a company that’s more concerned with taking a bunch of failed football players and turning them into something that it’s not? And always turning its back on all the real wrestlers here who put their heart and soul into this every single day.”
After the promo, Dempsey turned his attention to Zilla Fatu. He said no one in the locker room could match him and once again offered Fatu a spot in the group.
Zilla appeared in the ring and turned the offer down again. BirthRight then attacked. Arianna Grace hit Fatu, Lexis King used a steel chair, and the group powerbombed Umaga’s son through the announce table.
The rivalry began on the September 1 episode of NXT. After picking up his first win on the brand by defeating Tristan Angels, Zilla was offered a spot in BirthRight but turned it down and attacked Lexis King.
