Kelani Jordan retained the NXT Women’s Championship on Tuesday’s WWE NXT at the Performance Center but ended the night on the wrong end of a post-match attack from Wren Sinclair.
Jordan defended the title against Jaida Parker, and down the stretch, the champion sent Parker into the turnbuckle and hit the One of a Kind Split-Legged Moonsault for the pin to retain.
Right after the match, Sinclair stormed the ring and went after Jordan. When referee Victoria D’Errico tried to intervene, Sinclair knocked her down too and grabbed a kendo stick to continue the assault on the champion.
Jordan won the NXT Women’s Championship on August 30 at NXT Heatwave, defeating Kendal Grey.
Jordan and Sinclair’s rivalry goes back months. On May 26, Jordan beat Sinclair by targeting her injured knee and forcing her to tap out.
On August 18, Jordan and Kali Armstrong also defeated Sinclair and Kendal Grey in a tag team match. Ten days later, at Heatwave, Sinclair lost the WWE Women’s Speed Championship when Zaria won a Triple Threat match involving Kali Armstrong and unified the title with the NXT Women’s North American Championship.
Tensions escalated on the September 1 episode of NXT. During her first promo as champion, Jordan took a shot at Sinclair, calling her Kendal Grey’s “sidekick.”
