Brock Lesnar has officially hung up his boots. After weeks of speculation, WWE confirmed that his match against Oba Femi at SummerSlam was The Beast Incarnate’s final appearance inside the ring.
The confirmation came after Lesnar appeared on The Pat McAfee Show on Aug. 4 and announced his retirement. WWE followed up with a statement on its official website, closing the book on his 24-year career and noting that he’s a lock for the WWE Hall of Fame down the road.
WWE didn’t stop at a single post. The company’s homepage and video sections began prominently featuring tributes to Lesnar, including a retrospective video that aired on Monday Night Raw, a collection of his greatest moments, full matches and a career photo gallery.
Lesnar’s profile was also pulled from the active roster and moved to the Alumni section. His bio was updated to frame the match against Femi as a passing of the torch, highlighting the embrace between the two after their Hell in a Cell match at SummerSlam.
The final match took place on Aug. 1 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. Femi beat Lesnar with the Fall From Grace, closing out their rivalry with two wins in three matches. Lesnar had lost at WrestleMania 42, returned to win at Clash in Italy, then dropped the rubber match at SummerSlam.
After the bout, Lesnar grabbed a microphone, said Femi represents WWE’s future and called himself part of the company’s past.
In its official announcement, WWE highlighted Lesnar’s seven reigns as WWE Champion, three reigns as Universal Champion, two Royal Rumble wins, his 2002 King of the Ring victory and his breaking of The Undertaker’s undefeated WrestleMania streak.
