WWE is expected to make changes to the team that runs NXT in 2027, with Bayley and CM Punk among those who could take on new roles backstage.
Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer noted that Bayley’s involvement depends on her plans for her in-ring career. Punk may have more influence over decisions about the brand, but Alvarez didn’t name a specific role for him.
Alvarez also reported that changes to WWE ID are expected in early 2027. The program could be restructured.
This comes as NXT could be headed for a leadership change. Shawn Michaels is in line to replace Bruce Prichard as Executive Director of Creative Writing & Talent after WrestleMania 43. Prichard would step away from his current role but stay with the company as a consultant.
AJ Styles is seen as the favorite to take over Michaels’ duties.
Bayley has worked as a producer for the brand before. In December 2025, she was a guest on Undertaker’s Six Feet Under podcast, where she talked about getting a taste of producing and said she wanted to continue helping other women wrestlers.
Punk has talked in the past about potentially taking on a backstage role in WWE. In an interview with TV Insider in July 2025, he said:
“I don’t want to be office Punk while I’m active main roster wrestler Punk.”
