WWE is set to make Hawaii a regular part of its live event schedule after a long stretch without running shows in the state.
The company will run two shows at Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu on October 16 and 17. The first night was nearly sold out by August 17, which led WWE to add the second date due to ticket demand.
WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque spoke to KHON2 News about the company’s plans and made clear that the return to Hawaii won’t be limited to October.
“It’s going to be amazing. We haven’t been there since 2019,” Levesque said. “I can tell you that every superstar in the WWE has been calling asking us to be on this card. They’re chomping at the bit to get there to Hawaii. This is exciting for us, and this isn’t a one-time deal. We’re not just coming there now, we’re going to be coming there on a regular basis. We’re going to make sure that we have our feet back [on] the ground in Hawaii, where they always should’ve been, where our roots are.
“That’s why we are looking for that next generation too. We want to ensure that the Pacific Islands remain a home for us for years to come.”
Beyond the two shows, WWE will also hold a tryout at Blaisdell Arena, with prospective talent being evaluated by company recruiters, coaches and executives. WWE was already in Hawaii earlier this year scouting potential talent at the Hawaii Fit Expo.
WWE last ran Blaisdell Arena on September 22, 2019. Kofi Kingston defeated Daniel Bryan in the main event that night.
The return to Hawaii also comes as WWE plans to expand its house show schedule through the fall and winter, giving the roster more ring time.
