Santino Marella could be one of the big surprises at WWE Clash in Italy, the premium live event set for this Sunday, May 31, at the Inalpi Arena in Turin, Italy.

According to WrestleVotes Radio, an idea was discussed within WWE creative for Marella to appear at the event. As of now, though, there has been no confirmation that the pitch actually moved forward.

Speculation has picked up considerably in recent days, as Marella is in Italy for commitments tied to the weekend in Turin.

Marella has a historic connection to the country when it comes to WWE. His main roster debut took place on the April 16, 2007 episode of Monday Night RAW in Milan, when Vince McMahon picked him to face Umaga and he won the Intercontinental Championship in his first match.

Marella is currently part of TNA, where he serves as the Director of Authority. The working relationship between WWE and TNA makes an appearance far less unlikely than it would have been at other points.

In the United States, WWE Clash in Italy will stream on the ESPN App through the ESPN Unlimited plan, starting at 2 p.m. ET. The card features names such as Roman Reigns, Jacob Fatu, Cody Rhodes, Gunther, Rhea Ripley, Jade Cargill, Brock Lesnar, and Oba Femi.
