This week’s show opens with footage from earlier today, showing the arrivals of several of tonight’s top names, including Kevin Owens, Carmelo Hayes, Fatal Influence and Baron Corbin.

Nick Aldis is in the ring and addresses Chelsea Green’s injury before calling her out. The Interim WWE Women’s Champion talks about her bad luck, saying that every time she accomplishes something big, something terrible happens right afterward. Green says she already knows why Aldis called her out. Aldis says he hates to do this, but as part of his job, he has to take the title from Green because she is unable to defend it.

Green understands and says that even though she is handing over the championship, it is still hers until someone takes it from her. Green hands over the title. Before Green can leave the ring, Aldis says he is going against the doctors and will allow Green to keep the title for another 30 days, meaning she will only lose it if someone takes it from her. Green gets emotional and hugs Aldis before leaving the ring.

Gunther interrupts the segment. The Austrian says it is time to discuss more important matters and questions Aldis about his courage at SummerSlam. Aldis says that since he is talking to Green right now, Gunther should come find him later. Gunther mocks Green and says his business is more important because he competed twice at SummerSlam. Green fires back and says there is only one champion in the ring right now.

Gunther gets in Green’s face and threatens her, prompting Matt Cardona to come out. Cardona threatens Gunther and orders him to leave his wife alone. Gunther calls him an obedient little lapdog. Cardona gets furious and goes after Gunther, sending him out of the ring. An enraged Gunther demands that Aldis do something about it, ending the segment.

Singles Match: Gunther vs. Matt Cardona w/ Interim WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green
– Gunther locks Cardona in a Boston Crab, forcing him to tap out.

After the match, Nia Jax and Lash Legend come out. Jax complains about Green still being champion, saying she will take the title from her by force. Tiffany Stratton comes out to protect Green, but The Irresistible Forces quickly overpower her. The segment ends with Legend and Jax standing tall over Stratton.

Backstage, Charlotte Flair thanks Alexa Bliss for helping her last week. Bliss says Tatum Paxley was the one who did the hard work. Bliss says Paxley decorated the locker room with several photos of Flair and asks The Queen to be nice to her.

Backstage, Cody Rhodes asks Nick Aldis for a match against Randy Orton. Aldis confirms the match will take place at Sunday Night’s Main Event. Sami Zayn appears again, complaining about Rhodes. The American Nightmare challenges him to a match later tonight. Aldis likes the idea and says that if Zayn defeats Rhodes, he will earn a future shot at the Undisputed WWE Championship. Zayn says he cannot wrestle because he has a hand injury. Aldis says the offer will remain on the table until the end of the night.

WWE United States Championship Match: Baron Corbin (c) vs. Carmelo Hayes
– Corbin hits Hayes with a End of Days, followed by the pinfall.

After the match, Trick Williams appears and distracts Corbin, allowing Lil Yachty to nail the champion with a kendo stick. Corbin barely feels the shot and tries to grab Yachty, but Williams catches him by surprise with a Trick Shot.

Backstage, Chelsea Green thanks Tiffany Stratton for helping her earlier tonight, but asks her not to do it again.

Kevin Owens comes to the ring, followed by Undisputed WWE Champion CM Punk. The two begin arguing over next week’s title match in Toronto, Canada. Owens and Punk trade verbal shots, bringing up controversial moments from their past and vowing to win next Friday. The segment ends on a tense note after Punk promises that Owens will be left lying in the ring in Canada while he remains Undisputed WWE Champion.

Gunther once again interrupts Nick Aldis, this time in his office, during his conversation with Finn Bálor. Gunther mocks Bálor. The Irishman, however, says he was asking Aldis for a shot at the Undisputed WWE Championship, but if he has to go through Gunther first, that is exactly what he will do.

WWE Tag Team Championship – Triple Threat Match: Damian Priest & R-Truth (c) vs. The War Raiders (Erik & Ivar) vs. MFT (Tama Tonga & Talla Tonga w/ Haku)
– Tama and Talla hit Truth with a double-team move, followed by the pinfall.

WWE Women’s United States Championship Match: Tiffany Stratton (c) vs. Jacy Jayne w/ WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Fatal Influence (Fallon Henley & Lainey Reid)
– Chelsea Green comes out to help Stratton deal with Fatal Influence’s distractions, but ends up distracting her, allowing Jayne to hit a Rolling Encore, followed by the pinfall.

Backstage, Jade Cargill, B-Fab and Michin are interviewed by Cathy Kelley, saying they will get revenge on Tatum Paxley for her interference last week.

Cody Rhodes was scheduled to face Sami Zayn in the main event, but Randy Orton appeared during Zayn’s entrance and attacked Cody, sparking a brawl throughout the arena. The two traded blows in the stands and at ringside, using the steel steps and a chair. Cody even hit a low blow and sent Orton tumbling down the arena steps. Security intervened, but Rhodes broke free and charged Randy again before the broadcast abruptly went off the air.

End of show.
