Cody Rhodes and Oba Femi formed an unlikely tag team following the August 14 edition of Friday Night SmackDown in Boston, Massachusetts. The duo defeated World Tag Team Champions The Vision (Bron Breakker and Austin Theory), though the titles did not change hands.
The bout was a dark match held for the TD Garden crowd after SmackDown went off the air. Rhodes was setting up a Cross Rhodes on Theory when Maxxine Dupri entered the ring and delivered a low blow to the American Nightmare. The referee caught the interference and immediately threw the match out, ruling a disqualification.
Rhodes and Femi picked up the victory, but Breakker and Theory retained the World Tag Team Championship.
Notably, Rhodes entered the tag match just minutes after a wild brawl with Randy Orton. The Viper attacked Rhodes before a match against Sami Zayn could even get started, and the two fought through the crowd during the closing moments of SmackDown.

Dupri has been a key factor throughout The Vision’s title reign. On the July 6 RAW, she hit Angelo Dawkins with a low blow, clearing the way for Breakker and Theory to recapture the titles from the Street Profits.
Femi, meanwhile, remains on a collision course with Breakker on RAW after defeating Brock Lesnar inside Hell in a Cell at SummerSlam.
