WWE Willing to Make Offer for Top AEW Star

WWE remains interested in signing CMLL champion Persephone if her current AEW and CMLL contracts expire.

WWE Willing to Make Offer for Top AEW Star

Persephone remains high on WWE‘s radar as one of the top names they’ve been tracking from CMLL, even after she signed a dual deal with AEW and the Mexican promotion in early 2026. As of now, she’s still under contract with both companies.

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, published on August 14, the expectation within WWE is still to make an offer for Persephone if she hits the open market. The interest was previously reported when her current deal was said to run only through the end of this year.

That interest picked up even more steam in late July. Bryan Alvarez said on Wrestling Observer Live that multiple people in WWE were baffled by how Tony Khan had been using Persephone in AEW, making it clear the company’s desire to sign her remained strong.

“If her deal comes due, WWE’s gonna want her instantly.”

Persephone is riding the best run of her career. On March 6, she defeated Mercedes Moné at Arena México to capture the CMLL World Women’s Championship for the first time. On July 31, she successfully defended the title against Tessa Blanchard on a show that marked CMLL’s 22nd sellout at Arena México in 2026 alone.

The champion has also been a regular presence on AEW TV. On August 5 at Grand Slam Mexico, she defeated Kris Statlander, and on the August 12 Dynamite she appeared alongside Hikaru Shida as part of a feud that also involves Thunder Rosa.

For now, there’s been no confirmation of any negotiations or a formal offer. Everything hinges on whether Persephone actually becomes available when her current deals expire.
