The Rock remains one of the top names being discussed for WWE WrestleMania 43, but his potential involvement in the event is still far from a simple matter of availability.

According to information obtained by Ringside News, WWE works on scenarios involving The Rock for WrestleMania almost every year. However, those plans rarely move forward simply because Dwayne Johnson has an open date on his schedule. The process involves creative approval, business terms, logistics, preparation time and, most importantly, what would happen after the event.

The situation is more relevant this time, however, since WrestleMania 43 will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in 2027 for the first time.

The Rock is also not just a legend who might be brought in for a special appearance. Since January 2024, Johnson has been part of the board of directors for TKO Group Holdings, WWE and UFC’s parent company, and he also obtained full ownership of “The Rock” trademark as part of a services, licensing and merchandising agreement with the company.

In recent months, there have been reports that Saudi officials would be willing to make a historic offer for The Rock to wrestle at WrestleMania 43.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter even noted that the payday could be the largest ever received by a wrestler for a single event.

The key point, however, is that WWE reportedly already has an alternative if a deal with The Rock does not come together. According to Self Made Pro, Roman Reigns vs. Oba Femi is being treated as a possibility for WrestleMania 43 if Johnson does not agree to wrestle at the event.

Femi remains on a strong rise on WWE’s main roster. Even after losing to Brock Lesnar at Clash in Italy, he advanced in the King of the Ring and continues to be treated as one of the company’s major bets for the near future.
