WWE’s tag team division could be in line for major changes in the coming months, as the company believes it needs to rebuild the division.
According to False Finish, WWE is currently working to strengthen the division internally, while also considering the possibility of signing teams from other promotions soon.
The move comes during a period of major instability in the division. On the main roster, The Vision (Logan Paul and Austin Theory) are the current World Tag Team Champions, while Damian Priest and R-Truth are the WWE Tag Team Champions.
At Saturday Night’s Main Event, Logan Paul and Theory are set to defend the titles against The Street Profits, who returned to Raw after WrestleMania and are back in the title picture.
WWE also recently lost the Motor City Machine Guns. Chris Sabin confirmed on X that he and Alex Shelley were released as part of the post-WrestleMania cuts.
Their departure stands out because Shelley and Sabin were signed in 2024 and quickly won the WWE Tag Team Championship before leaving the company less than two years later.
As of now, there are no confirmed names WWE is targeting on the market. However, the interest in outside teams suggests the company recognizes the need to expand the division.
