Add as a preferred source on Google Zilla Fatu’s future remains surrounded by rumors, even after recent reports indicated that his WWE arrival could be very close.
Over the past few hours, Fatu announced on social media that he is heading to Japan, a move that drew attention because of the timing. The update came just days after Fightful Select reported that he is expected to sign with WWE, if he has not already done so.
As of now, however, there has been no official confirmation of a signed contract, a scheduled debut, or any clear indication of what Fatu’s first step with the company would be. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter had already noted in June that he was at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando amid the company’s interest in him.
The Japan trip, then, does not necessarily close the door on WWE. Depending on the dates and the nature of the commitment, Fatu could still fulfill independent appearances before beginning a potential run with the company.
WWE’s interest in Fatu is not new. Paul Heyman has publicly pushed for the company to sign him, saying WWE should act at the first possible opportunity.

Fatu is the son of Umaga and part of the Anoa’i family, the same lineage as Roman Reigns, The Usos, Solo Sikoa, and Jacob Fatu. In recent months, his connection to WWE has also become clearer in interviews. When asked about the possibility of taking offers from AEW, he dismissed the idea.
“No, I think I think my heart is with the ‘E’ right now. Yeah, yeah, 100%. So, I’m not going to break that cycle. I respect it. And then not only that, I got unfinished business as far as my dad’s legacy to fulfill.”
Fatu began his in-ring career in 2023 and has worked for promotions including Reality of Wrestling, GCW, House of Glory, and TNA.
