Zoey Stark is preparing for her next chapter away from WWE. The wrestler confirmed she will now perform as “The Purist” Zoey Serrano, using part of her real name to launch the next stage of her career.
The former WWE star was one of the names released by the company on April 24, during the recent wave of cuts following WrestleMania 42. Stark had been sidelined since May 2025 due to knee surgery, but she had already been cleared to return before her release.
In a new training video, Serrano is seen working alongside Brian Cage, a current AEW star, and made it clear that she sees her WWE departure as a fresh start.
“Wrestling was my escape. The number one thing in my life. The good thing is now is that I get to show that, I get to express that in my own way. So I’m so happy that you guys get to be on this journey. To me this is just the beginning, this is a fresh start. This ring, right here, this is my home. This is where I live, this is what I love to do.
“When I was a kid this was my escape. Any type of hardship, put on wrestling and I could escape from the world and just be in that ring with whoever I wanted. I made it come true. So if I’m good now, imagine what it’ll be like when my 90 days are over.”
Stark has not wrestled since May 2025, when she suffered a serious knee injury during a Triple Threat match against Rhea Ripley and Kairi Sane on Monday Night RAW. She underwent surgery to repair injuries to her ACL, MCL, and meniscus.
In WWE, Stark won the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship alongside IYO SKY and had a featured run on RAW alongside Trish Stratus.
Cage, meanwhile, recently returned to AEW Dynamite after 14 months away, where he remains a member of the Don Callis Family.
