AEW has announced a tag team match for Saturday’s Collision, the promotion’s final show before Redemption.
AEW Women’s World Champion Thekla will team with TBS Champion Hikaru Shida to take on Willow Nightingale and Maya World. All four wrestlers are set to compete in title matches at Sunday’s pay-per-view.
Thekla will put the AEW Women’s World Championship on the line against Nightingale, while Shida will defend the TBS Championship against World.
Willow earned her opportunity on the July 8 “Beach Break” episode of Dynamite, when she returned from a shoulder injury and won a Casino Gauntlet Match.
Shida, meanwhile, won the TBS Championship on July 1, defeating Kris Statlander, Maika, Harley Cameron, Persephone and Queen Aminata in a Survival of the Fittest Match for the vacant title.
Maya World’s opportunity came out of the most recent Collision. Shida defeated Queen Aminata and kept attacking after the match, until World stepped in to stop it. Tony Khan confirmed the title match shortly after.
AEW Redemption takes place Sunday, July 26, at the Bell Centre in Montreal, with the main card starting at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.
