AEW could very well become the next destination for Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods.
According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, everyone within AEW who has been asked about the duo is pushing for the company to sign them, including some of the promotion’s biggest stars.
Kingston and Woods left WWE earlier this month in a mutual decision. Kofi had been with the company since 2006, while Woods signed in 2010. Alongside Big E, they formed The New Day in 2014, becoming one of the most popular stables in the company’s recent history.
AEW’s interest isn’t exactly a surprise. Shortly after the news of their departure broke, names like MJF and FTR were already making public references to the duo.
Kingston and Woods, however, still have to sit out a 90-day non-compete clause before they can show up for another promotion.
In recent days, Bobby Lashley and Will Ospreay also expressed excitement about the possibility of them coming to AEW. Lashley went as far as mentioning the idea of working with both of them in the Hurt Syndicate, while Ospreay said he’d love to face them if the opportunity came up.
Before any in-ring debut, the duo already has their first public appearance booked at GalaxyCon Oklahoma City on May 23 and 24. Woods will be billed as Austin Creed, while Kingston will go simply by Kofi.
