Andrade El Ídolo took to social media on Friday to publicly ask what is going on with Carmelo Hayes, who has been absent from WWE programming for weeks.
The reigning AEW National Champion tagged Hayes directly in the post:
“Where are you Amigo ? @Carmelo_WWE”
Hayes has not appeared on SmackDown since August 14, when he lost to Baron Corbin in a United States Championship match at TD Garden in Boston.
Despite the time away from television, WWE has not announced any change to Hayes’ contract status. Sean Ross Sapp addressed the situation last month and said Hayes’ backstage reputation remains positive.
“I’ve never heard anything about him being viewed negatively backstage. He’s always been referred to as dependable, professional, and with a lot of upside.”
Andrade and Hayes have a long history together in WWE. The two worked a series of matches on SmackDown in 2024, and their final meeting, on October 25 of that year, ended without a winner after special guest referee LA Knight attacked both men.
