Andrade El Idolo, the reigning AEW National Champion, announced that he’ll be sidelined for a brief period following a hectic week.
Andrade competed at AEW Grand Slam Mexico on August 5, defeating Tommaso Ciampa and Komander to earn the first entry into the Casino Gauntlet Match at All In on August 30 at Wembley Stadium in London. Right after the bout, though, MJF laid into him with a brutal beatdown.
Despite not feeling well after the Arena México special, Andrade honored his commitments with Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling on August 7 and August 8 in Windsor, Canada. The appearances marked his debut with Scott D’Amore’s promotion.
After returning to Miami, Andrade sought medical attention and announced his time away:
“Hi everyone and especially Las Señoritas! I’ve just landed back in Miami, where I live, and I went straight to the DR.
I hadn’t been feeling well since the Wednesday after the Grand Slam, but as a professional, I had two shows in Canada with MLP.
I’ll keep you posted, but I have to be out of action for a few days or weeks. It’s nothing serious, Take care! but… I have one question?”

12:28 PM · Aug 10, 2026Andrade has not disclosed a specific diagnosis so far, saying only that it’s nothing serious. Whether the absence will affect his participation at All In remains unclear.
Andrade captured the AEW National Championship on July 26 at Redemption in Montreal, defeating Mark Davis for his first title since returning to the company.
MJF, meanwhile, used the announcement to keep the feud going, responding to Andrade’s post with a reference to the attack at Grand Slam Mexico.
