Big Bill appears to be on his way out of AEW, even though he is still officially listed as part of the company’s roster at this point.
According to Fightful Select, Bill’s AEW contract expires in the coming days. He has reportedly informed the company that he will be leaving, clearing the way for a WWE return unless there is a major last-minute change.
The departure does not come as much of a surprise. Since May, there had already been word that Big Bill’s deal was nearing its end, with the original expectation being late May or early June.
In AEW, Bill had his strongest run alongside Ricky Starks. The duo defeated FTR on the October 7, 2023 episode of AEW Collision to win the AEW World Tag Team Championship. Their reign lasted 123 days before they lost the titles to Sting and Darby Allin in February 2024.
As of this today, Big Bill is still technically on the AEW roster and under contract.

However, Bill has given his notice to the company and is headed to WWE barring something huge.

After that, Bill spent time in Chris Jericho’s The Learning Tree and more recently formed Paid In Full with Bryan Keith. His role, however, had been reduced significantly in recent months, especially on AEW and ROH’s main programming.
A possible WWE return also brings back the possibility of a reunion with Enzo Amore. In recent months, Enzo has been at the Performance Center, while WWE has shown interest in reuniting the former NXT and Monday Night RAW team.
Bill wrestled for WWE as Big Cass from 2011 to 2018, becoming best known for his partnership with Enzo. If the return is confirmed, it would mark his first run with the company since his release eight years ago.
