Bronson Reed has addressed the moment Oba Femi shoved his foot away on the September 7 episode of WWE RAW, an unscripted interaction that drew attention backstage.
Speaking with The West Australian, Reed chalked up Femi’s reaction to the competitive dynamic between them as both men jockey for position at the top of WWE. He added that putting his foot on Femi was a deliberate move to assert dominance.
“I think you have to remember. I am the top dog. I’m always going to assert dominance, and that’s what I tried to do. He’s very much the same. That’s why he obviously hit my foot off. If people have speculation about these things, then go for it, speculate, but of course both of us want to be number one, and we’re going to do whatever it takes to be number one.”
The moment picked up steam after WrestleVotes on Fightful Select reported that Femi brushing Reed’s foot off wasn’t part of the script and caught some people backstage off guard. The report added that several people noticed it and some weren’t happy, though it didn’t specify who the frustration was directed at.
Reed also said he kept a close eye on Femi’s rise while he was sidelined for about six months. He returned at Sunday Night’s Main Event on September 6, interfering in the match between Femi and Bron Breakker.
“While I was away for these six months, I made sure to watch and saw the rise of Oba Femi and how much he’s become a big part of WWE. You should always be gunning for the top and if that’s what has happened in the last six months, that’s who I’m targeting.”
