CM Punk said on Netflix’s Hot Ones: Extra Heat that nobody hates wrestling more than wrestling fans, though he also believes nobody loves it more than they do.
The topic came up when host Sean Evans asked Punk about the possibility of helming a new Friday the 13th movie. The former Undisputed WWE Champion explained that he understands fan criticism because he does the exact same thing with the franchises he cares about.
“Nobody hates wrestling more than wrestling fans. Nobody loves wrestling more than wrestling fans.”
Punk added that he considers himself part of that group and gets it when it comes to something he’s deeply invested in.
This wasn’t the first time in 2026 that Punk addressed fan negativity online. In January, speaking on Busted Open, he used Jey Uso as an example to push back against exaggerated online criticism. Punk noted that the reaction Uso gets in arenas is nothing like what people say about him on social media.
Punk’s connection to horror also showed up recently on WWE television. On the August 21 SmackDown in Toronto, he made his entrance wearing a hockey goalie mask created by Jason Baker. The mask featured Larry’s actual paw prints, a tribute to his dog, who died in December 2025.
Punk is currently chasing the Undisputed WWE Championship. He dropped the title to Sami Zayn on the September 11 SmackDown in Mexico City after Kevin Owens accidentally struck him with the belt.
