Danhausen has called CM Punk a key figure in his pro wrestling career, saying he never would have become a wrestler without the current WWE star’s influence.
Back in 2021, Danhausen said he had stopped following wrestling in the early 2000s and only came back to it years later because of Punk. Around that same time, he found the House of Truth, a wrestling school near his home, and decided to start training.
Danhausen brought up Punk’s influence again in content released by First We Feast during the week of CM Punk’s Hot Ones: Extra Heat episode. The special premiered on Netflix on September 14.
“He’s Danhausen’s reason for wrestling,” Danhausen said. “Danhuasen wouldn’t be a wrestler without CM Punk. He got Danhausen to re-watch wrestling, and then decide, ‘Oh, I should take over the world with wrestling. That’s a good idea.'”
Their connection predates their time in the same company. In 2021, Punk gave Danhausen his blessing to use the GTS in Ring of Honor and even named Danhausen’s version of the move “Very Nice, Very Evil.”
Both are now in WWE. Danhausen made his WWE debut at Elimination Chamber on February 28 and had his first match on the April 10 SmackDown, defeating Kit Wilson.
