CM Punk is set to make a rare NXT live event appearance this weekend despite sitting atop the main roster as Undisputed WWE Champion.
WWE has added Punk to the advertised lineup for Saturday’s NXT Live event on August 15 at the VSU Multipurpose Center in Petersburg, Virginia. Bell time is 7:30 p.m. ET.
No match involving the “Best in the World” has been announced as of this writing. Tony D’Angelo, Lola Vice, Kendal Grey, Jaida Parker, and Shiloh Hill are also among the names confirmed for the show.
The appearance is all the more notable because Punk did not have Petersburg on the live event schedule he released in July. The champion announced at the time that he’d be working the WWE Summer Tour stop in Manchester on August 13 but made no mention of the NXT show two days later.

Punk heads to NXT just days after retaining the Undisputed WWE Championship against Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam on August 1. Last Friday, he also had a heated confrontation with Kevin Owens, the current number one contender for the title.
Punk already has notable history with NXT during his current WWE run. In October 2024, he served as Special Guest Referee when Trick Williams defeated Ethan Page to capture the NXT Championship on the brand’s CW premiere.
