Cody Rhodes has once again fueled speculation about a possible continuation of his WWE story with The Rock.
During an appearance on ESPN’s Get Up, the Undisputed WWE Champion was asked about New York Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns acquiring a rare Topps card tied to the segment where The Rock demanded his soul.
“Well, it’s a very rare card he got. This is during the period that the Final Boss, The Rock, was asking on television for my soul. I don’t know if it’s still on the line. He appears when he appears. But that right there is a very special card. I’m glad he got it.”
The card in question is a 1-of-1 Topps piece connected to the moment Rhodes refused to sell his soul to The Rock at Elimination Chamber 2025. Topps had previously highlighted the rarity of the item on social media.
The story began on the February 21, 2025 episode of SmackDown, when The Rock asked Rhodes to become “his champion” and give him his soul. Rhodes gave his answer at Elimination Chamber in Toronto, refusing the offer before being attacked by John Cena, The Rock, and Travis Scott.
Since then, The Rock has only appeared in select spots on WWE programming, keeping the story open any time The Final Boss’ name comes back up.

For now, Rhodes’ immediate focus is on Gunther and his next Undisputed WWE Championship defense. Still, his comments make it clear that his chapter with The Rock was never fully closed.
