Damian Priest and R-Truth’s partnership is officially over.
On Friday’s SmackDown from Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Priest and Truth lost to the War Raiders in a match for the AAA World Tag Team Championship.
After the match, Priest approached Truth and the two embraced. Priest then blindsided Truth with a clothesline followed by a South of Heaven.
The turn didn’t come as a surprise to fans, as Priest had been showing frustration with Truth for weeks.
On the August 28 episode of SmackDown, Priest made it clear he wanted to go back to pursuing singles titles after losing the tag titles. Truth still managed to talk him into challenging the War Raiders for one more title shot, and Priest agreed.
Priest and Truth won the WWE Tag Team Championship on the March 20 episode of SmackDown and defended it several times before losing it on August 14.
It remains to be seen how R-Truth will respond to the attack and what’s next for Damian Priest in WWE.
